What do union retirees pay for health care?

Postby cos101 on Mon Nov 27, 2017 11:10 am

What do union retirees pay for their medical benefits? I had a boss once who was vested in the union retirement plan before he was "promoted" to managemant. He claimed he retained his union benefits when he accepted his new position. Anybody know the financial difference?

IIRC in my state at 30 or more years of service Verizon paid 100%. 25-30 years Verizon paid 80%. 20-25 years VZ paid 60%, etc.

VZ is paying 60% of my bill and my 40% share is about $480/month this year for myself only. Anthem BCBS EPO.

I guess they're lying to me then (there's a shocker). I have anthem also, and they're claiming that 100% of their "cost" is over $32,000, yet accoding to the numbers you've provided, %100 per cent of their cost is $14,400. I had 34 years as a "manager" and i'm paying way more than a union retiree with less than 25?

The lower level managers were stupid and gutless, we were rewarded accordingly

What did low-level managers have to do with you paying for medical coverage? They were not a part of that decision by senior management, HR and the CEO. Enlighten me.

I would not say, lower level managers were stupid and gutless. For most different paths were taken for various reasons, I took a 1st level manager position and returned to craft. Back then a manager position was good, much better benefits but I saw the writing on the wall.
