I was rif'd/early retirement in 2006. I was able at that time to put my phone on the retiree concession, which gave me free long distance. I also received a discount on my internet. It was upgraded to FIOS a few years ago while still under Verizon, keeping my concession. Last month I then wanted to upgrade my DVR to whole house and add another TV. I was transferred to the 'employee concession group' and they had to figure how to get the order to work so I would not lose concession, as the 'regular' order taker could not get it to work without losing concession. You also cannot do it online as it doesn't support your current discounts. My new bill is $20 more per month as I went to the whole house DVR & added another TV. I still get free long distance, along with a nice discount on cable/internet. I'm in Tampa and spoke to a rep in Lady Lake, FL.

You could have LD but it is not free, never has been except before the break up of the Bell System and if I remember it was up to $35 per month usage.

I live in the Tampa area. Frontier has informed me that I will no longer be receiving the Verizon employee discount. I called and spoke to a "retention specialist" and they lowered my bill a little but nothing like the discount gave me. The person also told me that all former Verizon employees are affected and I guess they are all ticked off. I knew it was too good to be true to think that Frontier would continue the discount. I may switch to Spectrum in a few months. too bad.
