Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about the operation of the board.
For questions concerning content of Joe Shmuck's Board please refer to the Board Rules.
End of Message. This symbol is automatically added to any post without content in the message body. Many people put their entire message into the subject line a) for emphasis, b) to save others having to click and load a message, and c) to "force" others to read their opinion!
Do I have to create a profile?
No, you may post messages and view posts without creating a profile. However, by creating a profile you can "lock-in" that user name so that only you can post under it. This will not prevent you from posting under multiple "anonymous" user names if you so desire. If you create a profile, be sure to give it a password, or you will not be able to edit or delete it later.
Do I have to use a password when posting?
No, you may post messages without a password. The password field is only functional if you have previously created a profile with a password.
How do I look at old messages?
Use the Search/Personalize Display page to search for the subject or author you are interested in. You can also use this page to customize how far back in time you want to have messages listed whenever you come back to the bulletin board.
Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please refresh your browser and it should then appear. Do not keep hitting <Submit> if things are not happening. Hit <Post> once and be patient. Use refresh to see your posts.
No. You can not post photos, but you can post links to photos.
No. You can not use HTML, but you can use some simple text format codes. If you want to provide a link to another site, you may do so by putting the entire URL in the body of your post, or by using the link field.
Why didn't the URL I provided work?
Did you include the "http://" before the URL? It is required.
The board manager has the ability to see the IP address of the workstation that posted any message. This can be done only in the ADMIN mode and is only available to the administrator. The software uses COOKIES stored on the workstation you are currently using to remember certain things that you entered, such as the name you use, your message display preferences, etc. If you go to another workstation to access the board, your name and settings will not be there since they are not on the server.
